Our client is a removals and storage service company offering professional pickup, storage, and redelivery services, where the company picks items from a home, stores them in a secure warehouse, and delivers them back when needed. It also moves items between warehouses. The client faced a series of challenges while running its round-trip storage services.
Managing removals and storage under one operational ecosystem was difficult. Conventional warehouse management was not working well for the company. It needed a system that could understand and track the entire lifecycle of items across removals, transportation, and storage.
We developed a custom warehouse management system to help the client protect inventory and complete the removals/storage operations without any friction. The system automatically labels, tracks, and verifies every asset/container throughout packing, loading, transport, and delivery. From shelving and racking to equipment handling and reassembly, the system can structure the entire process to help minimize damage, prevent inventory errors, and improve efficiency.
The operational challenge
The company’s operations involved multiple teams, locations, and movement stages. Complex warehouse moves required end-to-end visibility across collection, storage, dispatch, and delivery. Teams needed accurate digital tracking, reconciliation, and documentation to minimize inventory discrepancies. ERP integration was essential. Existing systems did not provide the visibility and operational control required for these workflows.

The solution
SHALIGRAM designed and delivered a custom WMS built specifically around the client’s removals and storage operations with a native Android app. Whether moving to a smaller residence, waiting to move into a new home, facing a delayed closing, not having secured a new residence, or moving to a temporary residence, the company operates efficiently with our WMS. The new WMS complemented the existing ERP system and operated as a connected system.
